Wild Adventure Outfitters is a small company with a very devoted purpose - to offer a wide variety of unique experiences in the Big Bend and beyond. We offer trips for those seeking a little more adventure. West Texas is often overlooked as a wilderness destination, but we believe that the Rio Grande meanders through some of the most beautiful scenery around and offers some of the best winter month boating in the country. We take great pride in offering both high quality and culturally rich experiences. Travel with us along the US/Mexico border through towering limestone canyons or take an overland excursion through the Chihuahuan desert and experience one of the most biologically diverse deserts in the world.
Below, we’ve highlighted some Big Bend classics.
With almost 200 miles of Wild and Scenic River available for boating, we can always offer a Full-Day River Trip through the Rio’s canyons. Potential itineraries on these full day trips range from Santa Elena and Hot Springs Canyons in Big Bend National Park to Colorado Canyon and beyond in Big Bend Ranch State Park. Custom day trips can be made to accommodate special needs and desires.
Canoeing can be an intimidating activity. This trip is designed to be a fun and relaxed day that will leave you with new or improved skills. The Rio Grande is a great canoeing river that lends itself to growth. Whether you are trying to gain confidence for longer and more demanding trips or you would just like to add a great new skillset to your life, the Canoe Instructional can provide a next level of education. The day will cover the fundamentals of canoeing in addition to a plethora of skills that are necessary for canoe tripping.
Enjoy a night out in the wilderness and get to know one of Big Bend’s more iconic canyons. Our 2-Day trips offer a perfect overnight on the water and can also be an inspiration for longer river adventures. This 20-mile section of the Rio Grande meanders through gorgeous scenery that is rich in geologic wonders, flora and fauna, and human history, both old and new. At their full height, the walls of Santa Elena tower 1500 feet above the Rio Grande and are truly a sight to behold. Floating through this spectacular canyon allows you to fall into the rhythm of a multi-day river trip and affords access to places far from the beaten path. This trip floats for TWO FULL days and spends one night on the water.
